Pittsboro’s Growing Future: Key Highlights from the State of the Town

The recent State of the Town event hosted by the Chatham Chamber revealed exciting developments shaping the future of Pittsboro. Here’s a quick look at some key highlights:

Housing & Infrastructure Growth

Thousands of new housing units are on the way, with 10% dedicated to affordable housing. Infrastructure improvements, including new sidewalks, are helping support this growth.

Parks & Recreation Upgrades

New parks and recreational spaces are being added, including a pop-up park, a new skatepark, and a playground. The Community House renovation will offer more indoor activities, and a master plan for additional sports facilities is underway.

Emergency Services & Public Safety

Pittsboro is expanding its emergency services with new fire stations and police officers, while also incorporating hybrid vehicles for sustainability. These efforts aim to enhance public safety across the town.

Business & Downtown Development

Pittsboro has welcomed 15 new businesses in the past year, including a Hampton Inn, and is enhancing downtown with additional parking, sculptures, and murals. The Downtown Pittsboro Business Academy is also helping local businesses grow.

Environmental & Sustainability Initiatives

The town has improved water quality with new filtration systems and is tackling upstream pollution. The TriRiver system is also improving water management, with Siler City considering joining.
